yac cāvahāsārtham asatkṛto 'si vihāra-śayyāsana-bhojaneṣu |eko 'thavāpy acyuta tat samakṣaṃ tat kṣāmaye tvām aham aprameyam ||

अवहासार्थम् · avahāsārtham
for jest, in jest
असत्कृतः · asatkṛtaḥ
dishonored, treated lightly
विहारशय्यासनभोजनेषु · vihāra-śayyāsana-bhojaneṣu
in play, rest, sitting, and meals
एकः · ekaḥ
alone
अच्युत · acyuta
O infallible one
समक्षम् · samakṣam
before others, in company
क्षामये · kṣāmaye
I beg forgiveness
अप्रमेयम् · aprameyam
immeasurable one

And however lightly I treated you in jest — in play, in rest, at meals, sitting together — whether alone or before others, O infallible one — for all that I beg your forgiveness, O immeasurable one.

Original plain-language translation

The apology is touchingly concrete: jokes at meals, casual hours of camp life. The Gita treasures this — divine intimacy is not denied but forgiven and kept. Greatness does not cancel friendship; it deepens its courtesy.
