तस्मादोमित्युदाहृत्य यज्ञदानतपःक्रियाः ।प्रवर्तन्ते विधानोक्ताः सततं ब्रह्मवादिनाम् ॥

tasmād oṃ ity udāhṛtya yajñadānatapaḥkriyāḥ |pravartante vidhānoktāḥ satataṃ brahmavādinām ||

तस्मात् · tasmāt
therefore
· oṃ
Om
उदाहृत्य · udāhṛtya
having uttered
प्रवर्तन्ते · pravartante
proceed, are undertaken
विधानोक्ताः · vidhānoktāḥ
as enjoined by rule
सततम् · satatam
always

Therefore the knowers of Brahman always begin their enjoined acts of sacrifice, giving, and austerity by uttering 'Om.'

Original plain-language translation

Om opens every sacred act — the sound of assent to the Absolute before the work begins. Beginning with Om consecrates the deed and steadies the doer. Custom survives here as living practice, not empty form.
