वेदाः · vedāḥ
the Vedas
निस्त्रैगुण्यः · nistraiguṇyaḥ
beyond the three gunas
भव · bhava
be, become
अर्जुन · arjuna
O Arjuna
निर्द्वन्द्वः · nirdvandvaḥ
free from the pairs of opposites
आत्मवान् · ātmavān
possessed of the self, self-mastered

The Vedas deal with the three gunas — be beyond them, O Arjuna. Free from opposites, ever established in the real, free from gain and keep, master of yourself.

Original plain-language translation

Four disciplines in one line: transcend the gunas, transcend opposites, abide in sattva, drop acquisition-and-anxiety (yoga-kṣema). 'Be beyond the Vedas' does not discard them — it graduates past using scripture as a shopping list.
