श्रीभगवानुवाच ।असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलम् ।अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते ॥

śrībhagavān uvāca |asaṃśayaṃ mahābāho mano durnigrahaṃ calam |abhyāsena tu kaunteya vairāgyeṇa ca gṛhyate ||

The Blessed Lord said: Without doubt, O mighty-armed one, the flickering mind is hard to restrain. But by practice and dispassion, O son of Kunti, it can be held.

Original plain-language translation

Krishna concedes the difficulty before prescribing the twin cure. Abhyasa returns attention; vairagya loosens its cravings. Together they bridle what force alone cannot.
