पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति ।तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मनः ॥

patraṃ puṣpaṃ phalaṃ toyaṃ yo me bhaktyā prayacchati | tad ahaṃ bhaktyupahṛtam aśnāmi prayatātmanaḥ ||

Whoever offers me a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water with devotion — that loving gift of the pure-hearted I accept.

Original plain-language translation

IN SHORT Even a small gift given with love is gladly received.

Grandeur yields to tenderness: the Lord of sacrifice asks only for trifles given with love. Worth lies in the heart, not the offering's price. Perhaps no verse has democratized worship more than this one. Like a friend treasuring a small handmade card more than an expensive gift.
