मानापमानयोस्तुल्यस्तुल्यो मित्रारिपक्षयोः ।सर्वारम्भपरित्यागी गुणातीतः स उच्यते ॥

The same in honor and disgrace, the same toward friend and foe, having let go of all self-serving enterprise — such a one is called beyond the strands.

Original plain-language translation

The portrait closes with social tests: status and partisanship, where equanimity is hardest. Renouncing all arambha means dropping schemes for personal gain, not dropping action itself. Gunatita — beyond the strands — becomes a technical term from this verse onward.
