यस्य सर्वे समारम्भाः कामसङ्कल्पवर्जिताः ।ज्ञानाग्निदग्धकर्माणं तमाहुः पण्डितं बुधाः ॥

yasya sarve samārambhāḥ kāmasaṅkalpavarjitāḥ |jñānāgnidagdhakarmāṇaṃ tam āhuḥ paṇḍitaṃ budhāḥ ||

One whose every undertaking is free from craving and scheming, whose actions are burnt in the fire of knowledge — the discerning call such a one wise.

Original plain-language translation

Pandit is redefined: not the scholar but the desire-free doer. Knowledge-fire incinerates the binding seed of acts while the acts themselves continue. Verse 37 will return to this exact image of all actions turned to ash.
