न अत्यश्नतः · na atyaśnataḥ
not for one who eats too much
अनश्नतः · anaśnataḥ
for one who eats nothing
अतिस्वप्नशीलस्य · atisvapnaśīlasya
for one given to too much sleep
जाग्रतः · jāgrataḥ
for one always wakeful
अर्जुन · arjuna
O Arjuna

Yoga is not for one who eats too much, nor for one who eats nothing at all, nor for one given to too much sleep or to constant waking, O Arjuna.

Original plain-language translation

Extremes of food and sleep are named as yoga-breakers. Both indulgence and harsh denial disturb the seat. Balance in the body prepares balance in the mind.
