विद्याविनयसम्पन्ने · vidyāvinayasampanne
endowed with learning and humility
गवि · gavi
in a cow
हस्तिनि · hastini
in an elephant
शुनि · śuni
in a dog
श्वपाके · śvapāke
in an outcaste
समदर्शिनः · samadarśinaḥ
of equal vision

The wise see with equal vision a learned and humble brahmin, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and an outcaste.

Original plain-language translation

IN SHORT Wisdom sees the same worth in everyone, beyond titles or appearances.

One of the Gita's most beloved verses, collapsing every social and species hierarchy. Equal sight means seeing the same self in wildly unequal forms. Learning without this vision is unfinished. Like a good teacher seeing the same spark in the topper and the backbencher alike.
